Slipping-and-Sliding

How do you entertain hot, bored kids all day?

Especially when it is so hot your naked puppy won't even venture outside.

Well, here's my solution.

First, you find a hill and a tarp that is currently not being used to smother your nemesis, Knotweed.

Second, you grab your mama's dish detergent and spread it over the tarp.

Third, if you want to go really fast, cover your own body in dish detergent.

Fourth, find a hose and someone who is not adventurous enough to try out your make-shift slip and slide themselves, but craves the control and power that the hose offers.

Oh, look . . . she's perfect!

Tee hee!  I should mention that Zoe did go on it the next day
and now holds the title for sliding the fastest.  Yes, EVERYTHING is
a competition around here.

Fifth, grab your best buddy, whom you have totally forgiven for busting your tooth, and SLIDE!

Tee hee!  I love the look on their faces!

And there you have it, a recipe for hours and hours of entertainment for your wee ones in the hot, summer sun.  Okay, who am I kidding, it gives you twenty minutes tops, but that is why the next step is so important.

Sixth, lock all the doors in your house and wish them well!

Happy sliding!

Oh, and I did allow them back in  . . . eventually.

Chipped-tooth update: We are still waiting to get in to see the dentist, and upon learning how much dentists cut back their hours in the summertime, I have advised all of my children to go into this profession.  In the meantime, though, Elliot is not in pain and, in fact, has asked me if we can simply leave his tooth as is because the jagged edge makes him look tough.

Ummmm, no!

Next thing he will be asking for is a gold replacement  . . . tee hee!

  1. LOL, that's great Krista! We did that awhile ago down here, it was longer, but not as steep. It did keep the three youngest going for an hour or so, but I lost all my dish deteregent!! Good luck with the tooth.
